• More than half of the 12.4 million estimated new cases of cancer in 2008, and two-thirds of the estimated 7.6 million cancer deaths, occurred in low- and middle-income countries, where cancer kills more people each year than AIDS, TB and malaria.

Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in the world today.
4.4 million Women are alive today in whom breast cancer
was diagnosed within the last five years.
Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide.
Breast cancer incidence is on the rise in India. In 2001 there
were approximately 80,000 new breast cancer cases.
Globally nearly 500,000 new cases are reported yearly with 274,000 deaths, about 83% of these cases occur in the developing countries where screening programs are not established.
The highest absolute numbers of cervical cancer cases occur
in Asia. In India, an estimated 132,000 new cases, or more
than one-fourth of the world-wide total, are reported annually.
There are 1.4 million women worldwide with cervical cancer,
and up to 7 million worldwide may have precancerous lesions that need to be identified and treated before they turn
cancerous and lethal.
A mother's death dramatically compromises the health of the family, especially the health of the children. These deaths are avoidable with timely screening and treatment.
 
The Woman’s Cancer Foundation has identified target regions for breast and gynecological cancer screening projects. Learn more about the work we are doing in the following areas:
Brazil
A Well Woman Clinic will form the nucleus of this global campaign against the rising epidemic of Breast and Gynecological cancers. Such clinics will provide basic medical checkup, routine blood tests and screen women for Breast and Cervical, cancers and test symptomatic women for Endometrial and Ovarian cancers.
 
In low resource countries we will provide
  • Consultancy services to establish Well Woman Clinics

  • Provide Guidelines to establish a Program for Screening and Early Diagnosis of Breast and Gynecological Cancers

  • Provide training for Physicians and Medical Staff to implement the Proposed Well Woman Clinic Strategy

  • Provide Tele medicine support for such Clinics established by local stakeholders in low resource countries

The Woman’s Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to the fight against the cancer epidemic affecting economically disadvantaged women in developing countries. The Foundation establishes partnerships in low-resource countries to provide Well Woman's Clinics offering screening and early detection of cancer, treatment and palliation of cancer affecting women, community health education, and training of health care professionals related to cancer control in women.
